Not exactly a sunset picture as it's about an hour too early, but this is our evening sun. This time it's smoke from Northwest Canada. Had it for a couple days now and hopefully rain (and a wind shift) will get rid of it on Tuesday.

Kind of late reply, but how did you take that shot of the stars?
My new Iphone 14 Pro Max has a low light exposure setting. All photos taken during this trip were taken by my cell phone. I hesitated spending the money on it but all those concerns have been washed completely away.

Thats twice this week I've heard of the Southern Cross. What is it?
I've always heard is that the Southern Cross in the southern hemisphere is the navigational equivalent to the North Star in the northern hemisphere. I've never seen the Southern Cross until that night. We were far enough south in the northern hemisphere to see over the equator and catch a sighting of it. I was pretty happy about it!!

The left circle shows the two pointer stars Alpha Centauri and Beta Centauri - run a line through those two and the line points to the top star (Gacrux) in the Southern Cross (right circle). Extend a line from Gacrux to and through the bottom star (Acrux) and that will show the approximate location of south.
