The European Space Agency's Euclid space telescope has a pic of the most perfect Einstein ring found to date. Hundreds (thousands?) have been observed since Hubble went up decades ago but I've never seen one that was not partial. They are ALL potentially perfect but the geometry has to be just right.

I'd not heard of Euclid rings before, thanks for the education. Still hard to grasp how gravity can bend light waves.

That fact was what was used to prove Einstein's most famous contribution to science, General Relativity. What people are much more familiar with is E=mc^2, and in practical terms it rivals General Relativity, but most folks have no idea of the importance, in PRACTICAL terms of GR. The most known example is that without it we would not have GPS.
