What does this mean?
They don’t mark factory seconds. Those could end up with wholesalers. There would be wholesalers who will get their tools made by a well known company and the wholesaler could ask for a stamp of the wholesaler brand or no stamp at all. Be aware of the there are smiths that are apprenticing to “cut their teeth”. You have to really know the market and who you are buying these from. It really is a “rabbit hole” just like everything else. The foreign language with the special characters makes it more challenging.

Sorta a sleazy way to sell your mistakes. JMO
Maybe should do that with my box rejects.... then again I would have to find a spot for all the crap they have in them.
Again my opinion, sounds like a great way to downgrade your elite brand.

The actual master blacksmith’s will not let go of any inferior product that has their stamp on it. They will not period. The wholesalers is a whole another story and there are apprentices. I covered that in post #21.

No matter about master. So seconds are not branded?

Spanner/crescent wrench. In the states these are looked at as inferior tool to be really working with. A real wrench is recommended and has less chance of damaging bolt or nut. I have a 6" in cabinet under my drill press. Wife has one in her tool drawer. It probably gets used the most. I have a 20" that comes in handy once in a while.

Seconds, will not be branded. There will be no stamp by the maker on it. There are chisels that have no stamp, but that does not mean they are seconds- these do often exist. You have to judge each tool regardless if there is a stamp or no stamp.

I don’t want you to be concern and what you got from me (Greg, Mike, Eric, Dean, Kevin, and the other’s) and what I have sold here are genuine and not seconds. I am very selective of things I taken in because one day, they might end up at someone else’s hand. Quality really does matter to me. That stems from my designer and guitar back ground.

Did not cross my mind. A couple months with me and all tools regret their transfer of ownership. I believe in making them work...

The Kikuhiromaru that you and Greg ended up with also has the sticker label on the handle. That always has to be there as part of being legitimate outside of the embossed stamp on the blade. Some folks take it off. But, what I did with my first set was to un-peel the label so it didn’t get in the way. I put them on a backing strip (like those post office backing label), so if someone ended up with them, they will have the original sticker. That brand is actually my favorite as it sits in that “middle ground”. I would buy a set of that again without hesitation as it is consistently made.

Mine came off in pieces. I collect more crap than most any sane person does, thank goodness I do not save labels.

Let me leave you with one really good information if anyone here is shopping around. The mass produced consumer grade steel are manufactured in steel mills for the Japanese tools are from pre-laminated strip steel. It is called ”rikizai” (利器材)or ” fukugozai” (複合材). This was implemented in order to reduce manufacturing costs.

Emerson, my bad for getting your thread side tracked. Let’s get this back on track…….

Not off track. Just keeping it up top. 🤣😂maybe it is how I pronounce but fukugozai sounds appropriate.

In the states, that is an adjustable wrench/crescent wrench. This is what spanners look like. Must be translation or????
