I will be trading @NCWoodArt the amboyna burl blank pictured earlier for his work on 2 pens (I will be providing the kits and the blanks). I look forward to seeing Bill's craftsmanship up close, and I think he'll be able to get some really nice pens out of the amboyna burl. I will likely be shipping tomorrow and will post an update after I ship.

Shipped. I'll send you a PM with the tracking.

And I'll post a few photos of the thicker, more full-figured shape I prefer. My profile photo here is a good example for the Rollester kit.

Thanks,

G

If you are still wanting chittum burl, there's a guy in Huntsville, AL with hundreds of pen blanks. They run 3/4-1" square and around 5" long. He's asking $10 each. PM me for his contact information.

Merry Christmas Woodbarter friends!

I primarily make pens so I can make use of anything at least 3/4" square x 2.5" long. I also have abilkity to resaw so if you have somthing bigger I can make use of it and process myself.

Here is an updated list of woods I am in search of:

Buckeye burl, needs to be almost all dark grey material and I can use stabilized or raw
Cocobolo burl
Honduran rosewood burl
Amboyna burl, needs to be all red no sapwood
Chittum burl
Almond wood burl
Yellow cedar burl
Chechen burl
Walnut burl

Or most any other burl that has eye burl in it or super figured.
Bill, you ever mess with Grey birch burl, Betula populifolia? I have some here somewhere, but think it may have need for stabilizing.

Just curious... Is yellow cedar the one and the same with salt cedar?
No, the Salt cedar group is in the genus Tamarix, often a weed tree invasive but can get big. Big water user, so an issue in your neck of the country. Yellow cedar is a far north native often called Alaskan yellow cedar. Its binomial has changed 3 times in the last 10 years, Chamaecyparis nootkatensis (+others).

I’ve got a few boxes of Myrtle Burl and figured pen blanks if you are interested in Myrtle wood, not crepe Myrtle, but real Myrtle from Oregon Coast. Make a good deal on all of it. I’m using it as kindling now !!!

I will try to to dig them out tomorrow and post some pics. I’ve been hoarding these for years from off cuts on other projects. If you are not wanting Myrtle, let me know and I won’t bother with pics. Not fishing for sales, but will take me a bit to dig them out for pics.

I wouldn't want alot but I could live with having what you are willing to dig out and part with. It's not one of my normal sellers but I don't mind having some on hand for special request.

Nc wood art. I posted pics of some stuff on the wood sale thread. I don’t usually cut for small stuff and I’m over run with it after several years. This is about all I have left. This rest is going to the fire pit starter pile. Hope you find what you need. !!

I will pass on those, I wouldn’t have a need for non burl myrtle wood. Appreciate the offer though
