Updated wantlist

Message me a picture of what it looks like, I may use some.

Hope that link works. The piece pictured is no longer available, but figured you would like to know what it looks like. I have other pieces, just need to locate them. They often have stress cracks, do you stabilize?

Yeah those cracks are from it drying, some woods need to be anchor sealed as soon as they are cut while green to reduce the checking. I could use some that have lots of eye burl in it. Checking I can deal with the inclusions are what I prefer stay away from. let me know what you have up for grabs I have ability to resaw into blanks if you have a larger chunk or block.

Bill,

Could I send you what I have and let you decide value based on what you get out of it?

You are correct, should have been sealed. Think I was out at the time, sad excuse. I had waxed a few slabs and they did ok, but not as good as Anchor Seal. The waxed ones have been traded but found a cut-off. PM an address and I'll see what shipping rates might be. Thanks.

Hey Bill, how's it going with my pens?

Thanks,

G
Been stuck out of town for work but will be home tomorrow and will get them knocked out. I wasn’t having to travel this year and last few weeks I haven’t been home due to work. A blessing and a curse….

Yup, I feel the same way about work being a blessing and a curse sometimes.

Looking forward to seeing the finished products.

Thanks,

G

@NCWoodArt , I can't remember if I mentioned that I prefer medium gloss rather than high-gloss (not a big fan of super glassy finishes, especially as they tend to scratch easily).

Also, earlier I posted a pic of the shape of the Rollester I prefer, but I think I forgot to post pics of the preferred Sceptre shape. If you could make the Sceptre this shape (and even a little thicker if possible with that blank), that would be great (the pen pictured below was turned by my father-in-law):

@NCWoodArt , how's this weekend looking for my pens?

Would like to get them by the end of this month.

Thanks,

G
Just checking in on the progress of this trade. Any word on this Bill?

They are done and tracking information sent to Grant, just need to figure out how to upload pic's of pens. Dealing with father in hospice care and work. Was a huge challenge getting them done.

Really sorry to hear about your dad, Bill. Hope you get a chance to spend some time with him.

The pens look really nice. I've sent you a PM with my address.

Take care,

G

Do you do all solid wood pens, or do you do hybrids too? I square up my cutoffs for a local penmaker who purchases them, but could certainly reach out when I do another batch. I cleaned these up today, as an example. Some people don't care for the resin.

I personally use all of them, wood, acrylic and hybrids.
Ok...I'll keep that in mind, as my local guy doesn't go through very many. Hadn't messed with them in the past because that resin is such a mess to cut, so I do as little of that as possible and only when I'm ready to be covered in static-charged tiny ribbons!!

Keep me in mind for cutoff's I can even use shorties 3/4" square x at least 2.5" long or longer

Updated want list. Also down for trades if anyone has something they are looking for in return. I have been a wood hoarder-collector for many many years. Also willing to maybe make you a pen, letter opener, bottle opener ect in return for woods I can use.
