A friend's mom passed away, and I offered to make an urn for her ashes. Anyone have a piece of wood they're willing to sell that would be large enough for this? Thinking something with character or Mexico origin? TIA

What is your timeline? For an urn sized piece, you will have a lot more options with green wood, which will take a while before you can finish turn it, assuming you will be turning it....

Sizes I have found were 8x8x12. The only dryish in that size for me is apple. Not fully dry but very well seasoned. Say 6 years in firewood size chunks. I think texas , Nevada, new Mexico would be where you will find the best "mexico" wood. That size will likely be a ups shipment. About 25 to 30 dollars flat rate (under 1728 inches) but you will have to make sure the shipper is willing to use the flat rate. Not all shipping services offer that option.

Be sure to look into FedEx large and X-large flat rate.I think about 12” cube or thereabouts. Not quite like Usps’s flat rate but worth checking
