I want to buy a wood lathe in good condition. Must be able to turn a 41 inch long stock
It is 3 phase. Beyond my ability to convertGovdeals has one in Mt Vernon Ohio currently bidding at 146
That was a mistake in listing. It has been corrected in the comments. The motor is a 1/2 hp dayton with 120/240 capability. It is 3 phase. Beyond my ability to convert
Can’t find it now. I would certainly bid on it if it is 220 or 110 volt . But I get lost in these sites and then get frustrated.
This a Powermatic A model 3520. It is 3 phase, but I'm gonna guess that it already has the VFD already built in. If not, for an additional 2-300 dollars, a VFD can be had to take care of the power requirements. This machine would probably sell for $2000 if sold by an individual. I have one and just don't see a need to ever upgrade as it is a pretty darn good lathe. What can I say other than it's a Powermatic.
All info needed to find where this is and the current price is listed in the website .......... Jerry (in Tucson)

Thanks for the re-rail. (After the de-rail) turns out, with deeper research, the walker turner is a 38 incher. Skip the Ohio listing.Pardon my ignorance, but will either of those lathes turn a 41" spindle like Ralph specified in the original post?
Oops. My reading comprehension went lax in my post of that Lathe. Oh well.Pardon my ignorance, but will either of those lathes turn a 41" spindle like Ralph specified in the original post?
Well, somebody bought the Rockwell. Whoever it was ( maybe someone on this site) outbid me. They got a good deal. After taxes and a buyers premium, they had about $ 600 in the lathe. In newer (last 20 years or so) larger wood lathes, the "3 Phase" part of the motor may not be as meaningful as in other woodworking equipment like table saws and such. Pretty common in wood lathes to have a 3 phase motor, with a 240 volt single phase input to a VFD (Variable Frequency Drive). The single phase input gets converted to 3 phase output for the motor, and also provides variable speed at the turn of a dial.
I don't think that any of the Powermatic 3520's sold in the US market required 3 phase input--but worth checking before buying. Tougher to do in the govdeals type of auction, as the contact person may not have a clue of what they're auctioning--they are simply contracted to sell equipment.
Good luck in your hunt!!
