@Mr. Peet

Found this piece of wood in our collection and thought of you since “by the looks of it” it might be a somewhat obscure species around this part of the world (no idea - 😀)

Anyway- if you need it for your collection, I’ll send it to you, no problem. I appreciate all you do for WB.

came from an IWCS members collection (deceased) who lived in Wisconsin

Hello John,

That is very nice of you. I have a single flatsawn sample of Sipo that Paul had gifted me better than 10 years ago. I have found a few pieces when boxing Paul's stuff, but none were 1/4 sawn. What is your piece there? Rift cut and 1/4 sawn would both be a yes please from me.

I guess I would describe it as more rift sawn, than flat.
Very pretty piece of wood. I might have guessed Mahogany or Sapele if it wasn’t already marked.
Happy to send it your way regardless. Let me know- thanks

(I’m sure I still have your address)

Sometimes we get some Utile pallets from Africa. I always ask the lumberyard if they can get some real stock and they always answer with an annoying “let me check”.

It looks much like the sample I have, so I will pass. Thank you so very much for thinking of me. I appreciate it.
