My wife & I are on vacation on the Big Island of Hawaii, and I thought I should meet up with a fellow WB member. We drove to his place and he showed us around his shop and storage areas for his Hawaiian woods! His inventory of different wood species is very extensive. I put a few pieces in a pile for him to mail to me after I get home. Of course, we had to have a picture taken to prove we were together! Chris @Kalai on the left, and me on the right. Thank you, Chris, for agreeing to meet. It was sincerely a treat! Chuck IMG_7928.jpeg

Hay Chuck @Nature Man thanks for stopping by, I really enjoy it when the forum members stop by. I enjoyed meeting you and your wife.
I also like to show off my wood supply, after over 40 years of being a full time woodworker I have amassed a large collection of over 56 different woods. Soon to be 57 after I harvest some of the Strawberry Guava.
I would love to see some pictures of whatever you make from the Hawaiian woods.

I also want to extend a warm welcome to any other members that would like to stop by. I also give wood turning classes for the beginner or the advanced wood turner.
Aloha.

Chris

It was, indeed, a great visit. Thanks for sharing your time and insights into the Hawaiian world of woods! And thanks for packing up and shipping the few selected woods for my future enjoyment! I will definitely post pics when I make things! I would foot stomp your invitation to other WB members that find themselves on the Big Island of Hawaii. Aloha! Chuck

Very cool! Lucky you. I was on Maui recently and tried without success to meet woodturners. Even called more than a dozen arborists with no success—trying to get wood
