Yeah, took a few minutes, but I hunted down the Chinese name. They call it "Bali Walnut". I can only find one guy selling it. I'll try contacting him, but if it is this rare here, might be better to source your side of the pond.

Paldao (bn. Dracontomelon dao) grows in the Philippines and a type of mahogany (not really swietenia). This is straight from the source and about 2 decades old. Air dried. The color is not correct- it is more of a warm grayish brown and similar in color to Hawaiian Ohia. It is very hard to find and this piece is perfectly quarter sawn and I have this slated for future acoustic guitar necks (2)- this is 4” thick.

I don’t know off hand where you can find one. They are use for furniture and mostly sold in veneer form.

Thanks Byron!
Sorry mate, no luck hearing back from the mill. I found some other smaller pieces, but they were listed for sale in 2017. Something tells me they're not available anymore! I might run into the local name for it and be able to find some. The name I found for it online might not be what is actually being used.

Maybe Richard has some.
