Hello, I am Jeromy from Dallas Tx. I am a woodworker and turner that stabilizes and dyes premium burls and curls. Blanks in most sizes, as well as scales. I am curious why I cannot post a thread to the wood for sale section. Thanks in advance.

Hey Jeromy. Welcome from Virginia. Take a few minutes to read our rules and learn how it goes here. This forum is for woodworkers and you said you are. Not trying to be an @$$ but we want people to contribute to our site by helping others with questions from one's own experience, asking questions, regular good hearted banter and selling wood at good prices. A lot have come here JUST to sell wood and they don't last because this isn't like free ebay. I hope you don't take what I said wrong. We just want to keep this place like a big family. And to answer your question, you have to have 5 posts and then you'll be able to post in other places. I am Jeromy from dallas tx. Got laid off from my HVAC job during covid and decided that I would never work for someone else again (the idea of making someone else all the money sickens me lol) so I started my own woodworking company. I started doing geometric art pieces from culled lumber at HD then got very into epoxy. My business boomed for a year and a half but I got 100% burned out. Dealing with clients, running every aspect of the business alone was alot. Not to mention moving 10-15ft slabs by myself was impossible. I got a lathe about 6 months ago and still playing with it and learning but what I really found an interest for was stabilizing and dying woods. It allows the artist in me to shine, play with colors and experiment with colors. Did anyone say screw their job after covid and create for their only source of income?

Jeromy, Welcome from San Antonio! Good on you man for taking the leap! I've thought about it a lot but I can see retirement from here so I'm trying to ride it out for a while. Tony

Im 35 so Im ALONG way from retirement lol. To be honest, what the heck would I do with all that time on my hands? I got completely burnt out building burl and epoxy tables so Im slowing down my pace and trying to sell burls. My buddy harvests them in Oregon and I buy 2000 lbs at a time. Use a couple, sell some bookmatched sets and cut the others up to be stabilized and or dyed.

Thank you kindly. Im trying to talk the wife into buying a piece of land in TN. I want nothing more than to move out of the city and get off the grid before the country implodes. Beautiful up in TN.
Heck yeah move out of Texas and up to Tennessee. You'll be close to Gods country and out of that hot steamy hole down there
