What free wood did you find today?

Petrified wood is awesome. I have a handful of pieces around, though all ones I've purchased - including a small cookie that has been polished. I would really like to find some myself someday.
Petrified wood is found on every continent in the world. Fortunately, Arizona has the largest deposit in the world so far.
Upon further investigation, it looks like there are about 15 states that don't have any deposits. ...........Jerry (in Tucson)

Someday, I will be up your way - and you can show me some of them deposits!

Travis,

I have a single flat sawn sample of Prunus mexicana and would love to add a 1/4 sawn sample to the reference collection. Keep me in mind if you sell any. Samples finish at 3" wide by 6" long by 1/2" thick. Thank you.
I'll keep that in mind Peet. Mind sharing any photos of you have of your flat seen sample?

Storm caused a huge maple to fall across the road night before last about a 1/4 mile from my house. I was able to get some pieces from the limbs today. Never processed any maple. The wood feels very lite for the size limbs I cut? D957D19D-FA46-4997-A4C2-9E4AFE28BD76.webp EFB97359-DE31-43A5-8B0F-9D96D5BA1E1B.webp CFA7702F-C39E-44C7-AAFD-98F9A3F865BA.webp

Took down this old mesquite yesterday. Freeze a cpl years back got it. Unfortunately both leads were rotten through the middle(the big side hollow) up to about 4-5 feet so I wasn't able to get any millable pieces out of it. There are some pieces that look to have some burl/figure to them that I'll either turn or bandsaw mill(will post pictures of them later). I did notice this huge burl on a dead tree about 50 feet away. Will be going back out to cut down a Mulberry in the future and will definitely be taking this guy with me.

I found this sitting outside my Shop Doors today. Four Foot of Cherry Log.
Found out a Neighbor Dropped it off. He wants two (2) Ice-Cream Bowls and the rest is mine.
Dimensions are about 12.5" to 14"
Works for me since my lathe is only 12"
I Anchor sealed it... not sure when I'll get to cut it up.
