Was sitting in my office at work ans noticed out of my window the landacaping company across the street was cutting down a bunch of dogwood trees around the parking lot of a bank. I hurried over there and asked them if I could have the “big” dogwood log that they had not hauled off yet. They said sure and even helped me load it. Probably the biggest and straightest dogwood I have seen. I sealed it and it is drying. I’ll get it milled and use it for turkey calls.

I'd like to see the lumber once it's milled if you don't mind, please?

Even though I don't smoke, I'll bring some cigars - I have a friend that started a cigar company - Principle Trading. Smoked 4 in college - tradition was to light one on our big bonfire. It took quite a few hours before you could get close enough to light it and even then you had better have some kind of shield. My senior year bonfire was like 108' tall. Texas A&M. Then tried a few when I would travel out of town - they just didn't agree with me. Now, whisky was consumed then - note the lack of "e". Even that I haven't had any in years. It messes with my DM2 and medicine.

Used to go to Hattiesburg and on down to Gulfport a few times years ago. Even helped build a structure for a hospital in Jackson/Madison County probably 42 years ago or thereabouts. Cannot bring myself to go with a good friend to see games in Oxford.

Hope you put some of the dogwood up for sale. If the color is right, I need some more pot call blanks of it

Got one in the car right now. I got the cigar from him to give to someone, but forgot who I was gonna give it to. How about this for enticement? Iff'n I don't get to go to SWAT again, and iff'n you stop by on the way to SWAT, or even after, so's I can look over your purdy wood and buy some (save me some good stuff), I'll get you more bands/cigars. Maybe some from Cuba.

You might also like the cherry chest that just fits under the bench I built to hold lathe tools, chucks, etc…

Lathe tools? Are you NUTS? Sorry just an impulse reaction.... not suppose to demean people on this forum. Beautiful work and craftsmanship..... but I still think it's too good for just tools lol.

Again, another beautiful piece of work. Where is your water source/sponge? Do you have a small fan in there? I'm curious to see how well yours works. I had just a small one, little bigger than a cigar box that would hold maybe 60 cigars. Had the little foam pad in the top you kepted wet. Never did work. Ended up using a food storage container/lid with a small piece of wet sponge in it.

First pic, 2nd from the left on the top row.... Looks like an Ormar Ortez? Could be almost anything though.

Oh and you need a better photo of the front of the cabinet... to dark to really show it off.

There are 6 plastic bricks with oasis inside and they sit in a chase between the top and bottom. It stays at a constant 69-70% humidity.

Holds 8 boxes of Churchill size and box storage below. I need to find a different mahogany for the drawer fronts. The top is 1 solid piece of mahogany.

Never heard of that type of hydration pack. Disposable?

Much better photo of the front. It does it justice to the cabinet, very nice. Spanish cedar lining/dividers?

But those nice tools deserve a good home! The cherry was from some large speakers and a coffee table top I made in college that had been dismantled years ago. Hence, free wood. Since we are building a new house and my dream shop, I’m clearing out some of the wood pile I don’t really want to move.

Since this thread is about free wood, let me tell you about something that is free to me, but requires repurposing. 60 years ago, dad made a pair of walnut cannonball twin beds. I tried to give them away to family members, but nobody wanted them. Our new house will not have room to accommodate another bedroom suite. I didn’t want to give them away to just anybody, and since nobody in the family wanted them, I will be repurposing the black walnut they were built from.

It’s those black boxes in the back. Recharge with 50% water and 50% propylene glycol which is know as cigar juice. I make my own which is dirt cheap instead of buying premade. Entire inside is Spanish cedar.
