IMG_20260531_171223_359.jpg IMG_20260531_171114_633.jpg busted open a couple of the crotch sections from a pile of free walnut last month. Still have one rough butt log on the trailer. I am waiting for a new milling chain. No reason to move a thousand pound log when you could move hundred pound slices of wood .
Been dropping a saw through several chunks and stump cuts on the place. Hit the 5 year old dogwood stump and basically threw 75 percent of it out. Chopped up my buxus stump/ stem combo. Turned it into sticks and a rootball chunk. All of these items were yard recoveries along with a small holly stump that I chunked up but never split into blanks.

Well...I finally found some free wood.
This was in a crate high up on the top shelf covered in about an inch of dust on it. This is was a great find while I was clearing out junk crates at work. It was a table top for some set/trade show display.
But now it's mine.

There's some other wood in the crate. I'll have to get pics tomorrow.

They had 3 at work. I got the one with the most straps. The others weren't in good shape either.
No clue what I'm going to do with it yet.

And I got a hold of some scraps they cut cut up from another barrel. I can't find a name on it yet. But it smells like whiskey !! IMG_20260606_154911_MP.jpg

Those are fun to play with. The short staves , if long enough, make great whiskey flights.
