What music are you listening to NOW?

We lost one of the most iconic, generational and legendary guitarist of our time today. His career spanning over 50 plus years. I was always intrigued that he was able to “coax” a sound that mimicked “slide guitar” without having the use of a “glass or metal slide”. He had incredible control and technique with both hands, exceptional legato, his ability to subtlety transfer to being able to sound aggressive and tenderly with a signature tone all his own.

His instrumental rendition of the Beatles “A Day In The Life” is probably the greatest example (to my eyes and ears) of the “library of techniques, tones & skill set” signature that made him stand out from his peers. The right hand pick work simultaneously working volume control knob, vibrato bar and with the left hand legato, bends, hammer ons/offs, accentuation of chords and notes. Truly an extraordinary guitarist of our time leaving us a legacy as a “sculptor of sound”! RIP JB.

Struggle Jennings and Aaron Lewis's "outlaw country" has been playing on repeat here.

Is it the "Outlaw you" song? I think the kid sounded better 20 years ago.
Both contain NSFW topics and language so I didn't post the links.

Struggle Jennings / Caitlynne Curtis - God We Need You Now
Aaron Lewis several of his new ones

Ran across a vid of Tom T. singing .....Watermelon Wine. Brought back fine memories of talking with him and Miss Dixie! His office was in the next block.

Back in the day this band was well known for the monster ballad “More Than Words”, but little most people know that Nuno behind the band was a great backup vocalist (you can hear him in great harmony with lead singer Gary in that hit song) & what IMHO a guitar prodigy. Check out “Flight of the wounded bumblee” and see/ hear for yourself.

Anyhow, fast forward to 2023- this blew me away by Nuno’s shredding & gymnastics on the fretboard! You would have to go back in the late 1970’s to hear some incredible guitar prodigy playing, but this particular one you would get if you were into “acrobatic guitar playing and shredding”; especially if you are a guitar player. This IMHO is as good and tasteful as it gets………..starts at time stamp to 2:21-3:16………the glorious palm muting, pull-offs and hammer ons is highlighted at the middle to end of it.

Just goes to show how influential he was with technique, phrasing and the “brown sound” with post late 70’s guitar generation to now. What separated him is his approach of being “whimsical, fun and playful” when he approached his solos. Yes they are definitely calculated solos, but he was very “loose and he had such enjoyment” when playing them. This was the backing tracking to “Unchained”- so much layers, texture, great phrasing, thrusting riffs, myriad of sounds and technique, “wet sound”, all wrapped into one…………he was also a great rhythm guitarist who injected great guitar fills and solos into the VH songs whether it was David or it was Sammy fronting.

We also use Pandora for background ambient music. I thought I had on 70's rock or classic rock but it just played Peter, Paul and Mary "Kumbaya"?!?!? Which one of you is messing with my Pandora?
