Great find Marc @ripjack13 - the vocal clarity and quality is spot on with the crispness of the guitar tandem. Great mix actually and a throwback with some twist.

I listen to old blues—currently listening to all the Slims—Memphis Slim, Sunnyland Slim, Lightnin’ Slim, Slim Harpo, Lynwood Slim, Guitar Slim, and Magic Slim. There’s also a Fillmore Slim but I don’t know him—yet.
I listen to this often! Makes me want to learn to play the guitar - even one of them communist, new-fangled electricity jobs, just to sing this where needed!

Followed up with this one. It gives me shivers every time I hear it. I literally sat within arm's reach (just off his right side and a little behind) of him and his piano at a fundraiser for fighting heart disease that honored Miss Rudy, the matriarch at the time of the Rudy's Farm Sausage empire. It was a seat that was not supposed to be good as I was just a pee-on helping with the show. But boy, did it turn out to be a good seat! He put so much effort into singing it - every visible vein was puffed up with the effort. With a standing O at the end!

Mike, do you have a tape of the Aggie Marching Band? When I was in the Army, three of us rented a house off post, and one of my room mates for about a year and half was an Aggie. He had a tape of the Aggie Marching Band and every Sunday during football season he'd play that darn tape at just about max volume. It was funny at first but after a couple weeks it got pretty irritating.

Among many, ahem, unusual things about the Fighting Texas Aggie Marching Band - there ain't no music majors in it. TAMU Main Campus, does not have a College of Music with a course track for a music major. The have offered music studies, just not a "real" major. Most band members are D&C Cadets.
I'm all for loyalty and school spirit but we nearly voted Joe off the island one time when the Aggies were actually on TV. He played that darn tape for the entire 4 hours of game time and then tried to play it while we BBQ'd after. I told him if he didn't shut it off when he was gone one day I'd find that tape and bury it so deep the devil couldn't find it. That was when they had that barefoot place kicker. He came over for an all star game or something and Joe invited him out to the house. I'd have rather he invited Farah Fawcett - he supposedly knew her too some how.

Wow! That was Tony Franklin - that during the years I was there! In 3 years 1676-1978 I think 6 field goals over Tom Dempsey's 63 yarder (the record at the time kicked in 1970 I think) were kicked by 4 different kickers - 3 of them from the old SWC. I was there for a couple of them - amazing!
Unfortunately a guy I did not like and did not like me kicked the longest one 67 yards. Some jail bird named Russel Erxeleben - really - he might still be in jail for a 3rd time. But got out in 2021 from his second jail term. Couldn't happen to a nicer fella. Oh, yeah, he is noted as being one of New Orleans biggest draft busts - during a really bad time for the Saints - think one of his years they went 1-15. They only won 32 of 89 in those years. Not that much worse than the mighty Titans though. Even though he had the record field goal, he was busted down to punter only. Probably something to do with pills, powders and leaves/buds. We played on same high school team, but he was one year behind. He also thought he was a pitcher - boy he was wrong. I probably still have bruises from his wild pitches. I was the catcher.

I stumbled onto Railroad Earth many years ago and instantly fell in love with them. Want to get out and see one of the shows again, especially now that I have started listening to a lot of bluegrass. They always travel with a great lineup.
Man, I am outta touch - never heard of them or many that have been mentioned. They are good to listen to. Some of them may be older than I am!

You don’t need no stinkin’ drum sticks- I’ll just give you a pair of snakewood chopsticks. It is a one liner, one trick pony and it does one effect really well. You don’t even have to get near the snare, Tom’s, high-hat and it will do something magical. How about I supplement the snakewood stick’s with a gong?

Greensky Bluegrass is another you might enjoy, if you aren't familiar with them.
As a new bluegrass listener, bluegrass is in great hands. I listen to Bluegrass Junction on SiriusXM and with talent like Billy Strings and Molly Tuttle, it is in great hands. And wish I could have seen Alison Kraus at Red Rocks this week.
Alison Kraus and Union Station were recently in Wilmington - great concert. Highly recommend if you get another chance, worth the $.
Only, I've restricted myself to only make them if out of PURDY wood. However, I'm told PURDY wood drumsticks won't hold up. So, therefore, I have not turned a drumstick. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!
However, have made and eaten a ton of smoked drumsticks - prefer them butterflied (faster and tastier) or lollipopped (more pretty and don't get my pinkies dirty)!
