What's Growing in the Garden

The jalapeño green sauce is the bomb on scrambled eggs. A smidgen on heat and loaded with flavor. Last time I made some, it had onions, bell pepper, and pineapple in the fermentation pot. Of course one habanero pepper or three snuck in there.
That does sound good.

A little while ago my nephew turned me on to "Chili Crisp" and I've been using it on everything. For lunch, I'll often eat ramen with leftover meat and veggies and throw a TBS or so of chili crisp into it. It's also great on eggs.

Shes from West Tennessee and her dad owned a grocery store snd made a bunch of country hams every year to sell and also did smoked hog jowl. Its what she grw up with. It was hard enough to get her to like pintos - her mom only made white beans.

Nephew and his wife drove from Wyoming this week to surprise Grandma for her Birthday. They left their kids (all teenagers) and dogs there so had lots of room in the vehicle.

Filled up the back with pumpkins, squash and gourds.

And filled the back seat with between 5-6 dozen canning jars. The jars date to when I was a kid and were filled every year. They've been sitting for 40 years or more empty, we just don't do as much. Good opportunity to get rid of them without throwing into a landfill.

That is blasphemy! Lol. Glad you passed them on and didn't do that. I get as many jars as I can. I give a lot of canned goods away. The only thing I ask is if they don't can, I'd like the jars back. Hardly ever get them back though so I need to get them wherever I can but I don't expect anything when I give stuff away.

There were a lot of mayo jars that we've used to pressure can for years, but if the whole batch is mayo jars, it won't fit a whole load of 7. Didn't bother her though, they buy a lot of things in bulk and store dried foods in vac sealed jars also. She will use all she took.

I wouldn't have hauled them to the dump, those jars would have sat on shelves in the basement until I was gone and somebody else had to deal with them. Around here, nobody wants jars, especially these that were cloudy (etched) on the outside from decades of use.
