What's in the mail?

This was not by usps - but LMES (Lil Mikey Express Shipping) meaning he had to go pick it up at lunch! Now, my contact with katalox is relatively slender - so don't know if this is common or not, but picked up a piece of curly/quilty katalox - was kinda excited about it!

Recommend test the silky oak on your skin for sensitivity before you work it. Fairly common to be sensitive, had a bad reaction rash from it years ago and never touched it again.

OK, John, thanks. I just couldn’t pass up the figure it has. And compared to the price of Koa, or walnut here, it was a bargain.

Great. Thank you
If you want to take a look at one I did a few years ago, there's this one....

This works. Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks

Read about this remote power cord over at AAW. First use it appears to be good.

Then raffle last night at our Woodturners meeting was okay. A bunch of practice spindle sticks and a nice piece of aspen.

Forgot to mention, nice little piece of Texas ebony that I missed. I was lusting after it…… nice combination of sap and heart wood, very bright contrast

Don't you just love surprises? One of the guys I fished with in Cuba is a ferrier (shoes horses) and his son is a blacksmith, makes the shoes and tools, etc. He also is starting to make knives. I got a text from him asking for my address, said he had something to send me. I figured it was some kind of fishing joke or a horse shoe thing .... this is what he sent.

Think I'll try to put together a box of wood he can use for handle scales as a thank you.
