I wonder where the other part of my tool rest is? This is all that was left on the lathe. Other part could be in neighbor’s yard, but dunno - maybe in a tree, on the roof, (fill in the blank). Just glad the lathe was outside and I was inside putting on my respirator.

I'm going with the lathe was on, Mike went inside to get his respirator, the tool rest wasn't locked down and slowly vibrated around until the chuck hit it, broke the bar off the tool rest and like Mike said, it's now on the roof of his shop.

I was gonna post the following explanation, but the wife wanted something done that took quite awhile and I FORGOT to finish it. Ill attribute it to either retirement or old age - whichever is more be!ievable!!

It is part of the tool rest post that was left in the banjo. Had a 6x6x10” piece of pine monted and spinning. Apparently the banjo was loose and mived into the blank and ——. Kapooey!!!!! A
