I'm lucky to have found a set of rare wood identification and wood anatomy reference books on the second-hand market. A Manual of Yunnan Commodity Veneer Wood, is a total of 6 volumes of veneer manual each includes 30 timber species of veneer. Those books were published in 1993-1996 and are in pristine condition. Along with the real veneers, it also has extensive information such as:

• Macroscopic and microscopic feature descriptions of various tree species native to Yunnan that are utilized for slicing decorative veneers or manufacturing plywood.
• Photographs of the tree's leaves for identification
• Beyond raw taxonomy, the text focuses heavily on the commercial viability of each wood type, detailing properties such as density, drying characteristics, strength, and suitability for high-end decorative veneer peeling.
