Members - I thought I would try again to make a cover for a steel insert for a travel mug.
Looking for a 4x4x10 piece of interesting wood. Got anything good?
John

John, just a heads up - you don't need a 10" long block to use with one of those stainless steel mug inserts. I've done a number of them and usually use 7 1/2" to 8" to start, but 7" is even possible if you're being careful.

There is a chance I could get some quilted or
@Jonkou is sending curly. anything else?
I’m sure. I can always come up with something I’ll go poke around at a few trees this evening And see what I can come up with. Would you be interested in some very dense spalting if not I might be able to get some quilted. The quilted was a recent find so not sure how much or how good it is

Ok I have some spalted I’ll have to cut a piece out to see how good it is. It may need to be stabilized. I could also get you some maple burl. I don’t currently have anything large enough dry but burl wouldn’t be a problem at all

OK Let me know what you come up with. No Hurry!
I can definitely get the spalted maple I have a few pieces large enough of spalted curly the maple Burl getting a large enough inclusion free piece has been a challenge. The burl I’m currently working on isn’t cooperating. I just came across a pretty large Madrone burl as well so I’ll be getting that over the next few days. I have to dig it up and I don’t have the luxury of large equipment so it’s axe shovel and chainsaw for this one. It’s around 3 1/2 feet wide so
Will definitely take a few days for me to be able to get it up
