Hello folks...my new Record #778 just arrived from E-Bay UK.
It is in very nice condition.
I found wooden ball from Aliexpress and they are well done and cheap...the wood is very similar to my wooden ball without the rarity.
I am doing another knob for other future use.
How to make the center hole:

Masking tape to avoid wood split
Dry fit
So cool
Very comfortable
Sanded round edge to fit plane body
Will apply linseed oil at clear round part
Very nice plane

Seems like this new handle would give considerable leverage and control. Chuck

Both handles add more control and leverage...make a wooden ball it is not so easy...now I have a source from Aliexpress and 'll use them.
Odd shapes are nice too...I have both worlds.
