So it says for educational books only and none of you have BS'd and said you're a woodworking teacher/mentor/instructor and they are educational because they are going to another ETC/ETC/ETC for learning purposes?

I would argue that they are educational. You learn from them right???

Here is what the media mail allows. Notice it says that it's "a cost-effective way to send educational material". It does not say that only educational material is allow as media mail. Notice what is allowed includes music, play scripts, sound recordings such as CD's and film.

Media Mail shipping is a cost-effective way to send educational materials. This service has restrictions on the type of media that can be shipped. Media Mail rates are limited to the items listed below:

  • Books (at least 8 pages).
  • Sound recordings and video recordings, such as CDs and DVDs.
  • Play scripts and manuscripts for books, periodicals, and music.
  • Printed music.
  • Computer-readable media containing prerecorded information and guides or scripts prepared solely for use with such media.
  • Sixteen millimeter or narrower width films.
  • Printed objective test materials and their accessories.
  • Printed educational reference charts.
  • Loose-leaf pages and their binders consisting of medical information for distribution to doctors, hospitals, medical schools, and medical students.

In my opinion all books are educational, and that's what I'm going with. On the 2 occasions I have shipped books recently, they didn't ask what sort of books they were....

Now that we have explored all the media mail rules, does anyone want to borrow any of the resources listed at the beginning? Also we need other members to offer media for loan. Come on folks and help out our less experienced members.
