I have a Christmas order for 6 bottle stoppers in FBE.

Anyone have any stopper sized (or could be cut into stopper sized) blanks? I'd obviously prefer a lot of red in them. Some blue and/or spalting would be fine as well.

I'm not necessarily limited to 6 if you have more available, but I do need at least 6.

Will get a pic online after work, but I have an FBE slab I was cutting apart a while back for picture frame inlays. What length & diameter you looking for? I think it's a bit under 2" thick.

Also, it does have some burl figure but only 25% flamed wood. Since you want a lot of flame, probably not perfect, but I'm happy to trade for a stopper or having some knife blanks stabilized.

Looking forward to the pictures. Anywhere from 1 1/2" to 2" thick and up to 3 to 4 inches long would be ideal for my purposes.

I could do either a stopper or some stabilized blanks in return.
 
If his won't work for you Ken I'll scrape together an order for you.
 
Here you go @kweinert, pics of the rest of the slab.

You can see 2 rip-cut frame pieces I didn't use in the first pic. Misted those so you could see the color & figure. The width on those is same as the depth of the slab (1.9").

To be totally up-front, there's less flamed wood left than I thought. The flame runs solid in a section that's about 16"L and 3-4" wide. I can get 2 mostly-flame chunks out of it, each 1.9" x 2" x 16". If I go any bigger than I worry you'll start to get inclusions like those frame pieces have.

Well, I need 6 for the order and from what you've described I should be able to get at least 8 from the two flamed pieces you mentioned so this would work for me.

So would you like a stopper or 2, stabilized knife blanks (or both) in return?

Thanks @kweinert, your stoppers are a bit longer than I figured at first so I was going to ask for a bit more. If I pay shipping on the larger box going to you, could I get 2 stoppers and 2 sets of knife blanks stabilized?

That will include two chunks with minimum 1.9" x 1.9" x 16", plus include wood for two stoppers & knife scales, and you pay shipping on a Small box coming back?

If that's fair then let's talk shipping. Can I chop the lengths I'm sending you to something 11.5" long or-less? That would let me fit it in a Medium flat rate box & save a few $.

How about we ship the one stick, keep it cut as long as you can to fit in the box. I'll still turn your stoppers and stabilize the blanks.

I'll hit up Kevin for supplemental material.

And a note to other folks that may be following along: I'm still going to give Mike good marks as a trading partner. He hit me up in a PM as soon as he cut these and saw that it wasn't what he thought it would be, wanted to make it right. What more can you ask of a person than honest dealings no matter which way it goes? Definitely has my vote.
 
Thanks Ken. So everyone knows, I messed up by showing a slab & not cutting first. I got a bit excited about those stoppers taking care of an Xmas present for my wife way in-advance & didn't think. I'm not a turner, so didn't have things cut right in-advance. I definitely won't make that mistake again.

@kweinert, it's a flat rate box, so I'll fill it up & try to make the trade up to you. I'll send the one good stick of FBE & maybe a chunk of the burl/figured BE that looks good even without flame. Then I have some really curly walnut cutoffs I've been sitting on. I'll see what fits & hopefully you'll find something to do with it.

Just to note that the box arrived. Boy did it ever.

Instead of cutting down to fit a MFRB he ended up sending a LFRB with a "couple" of extras in it.

Nice guy to work with.

(Just added my first seller's feedback. Or is it buyer's feedback? At any rate, a +1 with good comments.)

Ken, if I'm understanding the above, are you still looking for some FBE for stoppers? I have some that may work. It's not Kevin's FBE, but it does have some color to it.
 
@kweinert Tag me on after you have done your dealings with everyone if you still need more, but I don't want to step on any toes. I'm sure I have a bunch of stuff that is dry.

Just to note this is closed-out for the admins. Ken sent some beautiful stoppers and well-stabilized knife scales (pictured below) to me. I'm thrilled & happy I may have still managed to send him enough to get his orders filled.

BTW Ken, I have piles of rounds from things that went down in a big storm in Portland last week. Going to send you some stuff I picked up just so it turns into more than firewood.
