I can understand the desire to use mineral oil from a production and cost standpoint, but if I were ever to sell my products I think I'd be marketing for the high end/bespoke market. Cutting boards are a dime a dozen, so its hard to get a foot in the door and even harder to make money. But a one-off board made with ultra rare or one of a kind pieces of wood and with careful consideration of design are the kind of projects that can command a premium price, and they are equally deserving of premium finishes. Maybe I should turn the purple wattle from Fred into a custom luxury board!
