They are Arkansas stones. Never have seen oil, just water.

Ah yes. I use Shapton glass now. Relatively unbeatable as far as aluminium oxide stones go. I do have one EP diamond stone and one combination 1000/3000 grit suehiro cerax stone.

I have always wanted a set of Marvin Groebs resin bonded diamond stones. He has a whole blog. Anyone who wants to know more about sharpening stones should read it.
