Christmas Ornament Exchange 2025

These kind of exchanges are fun experiences, you never know what to expect, it's always a pleasant surprise.

On Friday I received a well-wrapped package containing a really cool trio of snowmen, or perhaps a snowman family. Resin & metal and highly polished to a fine shine. They are well-crafted and make a nice addition to the holiday decor. Beautiful work!

A nice WB "peanut" was also in the box. A gift that will get quite a bit of usage. :cowboy:

Thanks, Marc!

That is very cool Marc! You've got to tell us more about the metal and turning it. I'm always looking to expand my snowmen army.

I'll have to make a topic on how I did it. The mrs wants one too. So of course I have to make another one.

I got this beautiful birdhouse this week from @JD1137 along with a curly maple turning blank. The birdhouse looks like maple burl with a yew roof? I love turning yew.

The roof is definitely Yew. The body of the ornament, I could't remember exactly. I do know I bought a few pieces from @Eric Rorabaugh a couple years ago and this piece of burl was in with those pieces.

Even makes your hand look big....
I'm afraid those photos are misleading, and likely understate Lee's talent.

I was fortunate to meet @Spinartist a few years ago when he was in SE NC for a week. We all know he is a very talented turner, but whay you may not know is that he is an exceptional tiny turner. I'm afraid Tony's hand make his ornament look bigger than it probably is. :cowboy: :cool: :sarcastic:

Lee was kind enough to give me a piece of his work, so I just grabbed a few photos to give a sense of what I suspect is the real scale of that ornament.

Henry, I was lucky enough to have one of Lee's goblets as well, he gave me one a few years ago. I think mine is smaller than yours, incredible work at such a small scale!

Here's mine. I can't hold it in my hand because I hot glued it in this cube, I was afraid it would get lost otherwise!

@Jason Goodrich @Eric Rorabaugh

Per Eric it's Chestnut Oak Burl. If you look at the box of wood I bought from him, it's the midde piece on the left-hand side.
