**ENDED** Liquid Amber (aka-Sweet Gum)

Just a history on the wood. I was visiting my mother in Ft. Bragg California and her neighbor had this stump sitting back among the trees. The tree had fallen a decade ago and a local wood worker took everything except for the stump. My mother's friend offered me the stump. It was sopping wet and about 80% of it was rotten and thrown away. This is a portion of what was left.

D.

based on the data i could find that makes sense. landscape trees common outside of the southeast where it grows naturally. rots quickly. and has a rather distinct nasty smell when burned as firewood

i have seen some castings made for turnings that included sweet gum pods and burl pieces, that was beyond spectacular

@Woodworking Vet

David, here's what I have. The Narra piece total length is 18". There is a crack on each side, hence the 5-1/2" dimension I gave you earlier. If you like it, I can send you the whole piece or cut the 5-1/2" square blanks out of it. The Osage is 7-3/4" × 5" × 3" at the narrowest part. What say you? Tony

Tony, sorry I took so long to get back to you. Very busy day. I think we should do it. I'm going to send you a small piece of blue spruce too. PM me your address and I'll reply with mine. Then I'll close the thread. No need to cut anything as I can do that here but if you need to to make shipping easier go ahead and do so.

This is my first posting for a trade, how do I go about closing this thread? Thanks.

@ripjack13

David and I worked out a deal, we will be shipping boxes and posting updates here soon. Tony

@Tony @Woodworking Vet No need to do anything right now, once both parties have the wood and everyone is happy, then just edit the title to say CLOSED in front of it. We can help with it at that point.

David, tracking shows your box is in transit in Spokane. It was supposed to be there Wednesday, but I guess yall are having some weather issues. Tony

Thanks for the update. We're not having any weather issues here but probably along the transit route some place. I'll post when it gets here.

As of 6:09 this morning it was at the post office there in your town, I imagine you'll get it today. Tony

I will. I'm also looking forward to seeing what you do with the liquid amber.

How do I edit the title so that I can put closed in it? I can see how to edit my posts, just haven't figured out how to do the title.
