Those British measure their gouges a different way. I'm pretty sure Mikes' is called a 1/2" but the thickness of the shaft is 5/8. A US made one that size would be called a 5/8". They are great gouges, in fact if you pass, I will try and barter with Mike on it...

I'll throw this lil guy in too. If u put it in a pan with about 2" of water it will grow and u could have your own live growing redwood Burl. 0818162026.webp

So , @Mike1950. Do we have a trade?Btw, ur getting a killer deal for a lace redwood burl for a $98 gouge . lace goes for about $3/lb . so, I totally wouldn't b offended if u wanted to pay shipping on the gouge . well, that is, if we have a trade.

May I ask why? I would like to buy it off u if u would like to sell it .

Can buy redwood cheaper local dry. The $1.20 a pound shipping is a killer for me. Especially for green wood. And i am spoiled. Put trailer on truck, drive 300 miles, put a couple tons on truck. And buy for a LOT less per lb. The $60. Is close to what one way trip costs. Yes, i will sell it. It was brand new when i got it and i can promise it has not touched a piece of would in the 3? Yrs i have owned it.
