Feedback Needed By Everyone

I would like to see everyone have an avatar. I get tired of seeing the "?" for everyone to lazy to put one up. :nodice:
It's like putting a face to the name. Maybe make it so that after so many posts you need to have one, or right off the bat you need to have one.

I like everything about this forum, except for one thing. I wish folks that are selling something would
put their expected prices in the original post right away. It seems once in awhile, that prices are sent back
and forth in pm's so much, as to almost being under the table, but yet we are expected to start and end
all sales in the threads (not a problem).
 
Although I'm the new guy on the block, I feel the off topic talk and banter is a part of what makes this forum what it is. It individualizes people and shows our character and a little bit of who we all are.
As for this search option spoken of, I haven't even found it yet. LOL
 
I like Johnathan's idea of a picture gallery. I would even like to expand it to a library. Of plans, articles, tool descriptions, user manuals, parts lists, .... If not the actual publication maybe just links. This probably would require a librarian and a lot of extra work. Also, there maybe some copyright issues. It probably can not happen, but some thing I could use.
 
I agree that this is THE best forum out there,
I don't think the thread starters need to be able to delete - The search sucks (as mentioned) - and easy upload of pics in PM would be great.
 
Please be careful with the post delete idea. I was on a bowhunting forum for years and they implemented a similar feature. It turned into a huge pissing contest and folks would delete a post to retaliate for that person deleting a post in their thread. I really do not like the idea that a when a person creates a thread, it is "their" thread. If we are sitting around a campfire and having a discussion, does the person who started the discussion get to tell others they can't say certain things? I really thing you will mess up a good thing you have here if you go this route. Off topic is what keeps the conversation interesting sometimes.
 
now this is just my opinion mind you but I think we should have a rating system for the buyers/sellers/traders. we used to have one before the forum software changed and even though most of us know each other well enough to trust one another on trades and sales new members to the site don't know us and it would be good for them to see that so and so has 40 sales on the forum and has a perfect rating for all of them.

also I don't think we should get too serious about the off topic banter, it's part of what makes this forum so great! I also realize that if members had the ability to moderate their own threads that things would be a little more organized and it would probably be less work for you moderators but I have a feeling it will just cause trouble. perhaps instead of that just add two or three more moderators to help keep the peace.

Can we have a thread like the reality show "survivor" where we vote off people. I will start off my vote with @SENC :wacko:
 
Just throwing this idea out there............I'm not in favor of the deleting of posts either, but what if the software could sort replies from off topic for those that don't want it, by using a "Banter" button ? All on topic replies would be sorted ahead of the "Banter" replies and yet the Off Topic should still remain in order by time stamp or Banter numerical post?

PM's are necessary and useful for not clogging up the "new posts" thread area with lots of lil questions. A lot easier to find and sort if you are buying, selling, and trading multiple items with different ppl. Not sure if a thread can somehow be linked with a PM . What i mean is the PM will still be private but the participants would be able view the thread at the same time they are typing their PM so they are able to view pics and such "live" so to speak ?

Thanks for all the feedback guys. This has really helped. I'm going to pull the suggestions from the thread, distill them into bullets, and ask the staff to discuss them further. I really appreciate the time you all took to share your thoughts.

As a show of thanks for your input, Henry is going to send everyone a box of curly koa; to save printing so many different labels, he's just going to send all the wood to me. Don't forget to thank him for this kind gesture. No need to thank me for storing it all . . . I'll give you all a discounted storage rate since you cooperated voluntarily. Volunteering always pays; none of the members who didn't participate will get to have any wood stored here at my facility.

Just my 2 cents,

When I first joined WB it seems like years ago, the banter was there even then and it was fun as it is now, WB is unique because we all actually like each other and kid around and it is all good natured, it is by far the best wood site out there bar none, I have been and used to be a member of a number of wood sites and none of them have the camaraderie that we have here, lets not lose that! If someone does not want to see or read the banter that goes on between friends, then scroll on down folks or as was suggested before, grow a thicker bark or skin or whatever, I only come to WB now as I know that someone somewhere is going to put smile on my face either with a fantastic piece of wood or great offer or kidding around.

Things have been tough lately and I can always count on WB to make it a better day, lets not lose that please, we are doing ok in my book, Kevin and the mods take good care of us, lets not be like the other sites with 500,000 rules and no fun!

Other than the search function I have no complaints.
 
Do we have a Search function, I thought it was the aggravation function. haha. I go along with Joe, this is my best liked forum. It ain't broke.
