I just looked at the shop toilet downstairs, its really old. House is galvanized pipe, no shut off at all!Had a flapper valve on a toilet that began to act up - wouldn't always drop after flushing - so decided to replace the fill valve too while I had to remove the tank. Only problem was the kit only had three bolts to attach the tank and this old toilet needed four. Not to fear, was sure there were some extra floating around somewhere. Dad's habit was to always buy extra, especially when it came to plumbing. Paid off today, found an extra and all was good.
Only issue was didn't realize that supply valve was still an old multi turn valve. Will pick up a 1/4 turn valve and new supply line tomorrow. In the meantime toilet is fine with no leaks, but it's been my goal to upgrade all old valves to 1/4 turn valves anytime I work on something. I think this the last one in the house....
