Looking for Texas Ebony

Jerry,

I will take the log. Hopefully my bandsaw blade will be able to cut through it and not loose any teeth. If you have to cut the log, please take some of the sap off. I can't tell how wide the hardwood is but with the cracks, it may be tight to get several square knife blocks. Should you cut any blocks in the future, I like them to be 5.5"x1.5"x1.25" without checks.

PM me with your PayPal address. BTW, if you have any highly figured ironwood to get rid of, I would be interested in that too.

Scott
Scott, you indicate square knife blocks, but your size listed is not square. Scott, that log was cut up to get you what you asked for. If you still want a log, I have a bunch of this wood. I can get one the same size and send that to you for the price listed in my offer to @Mlyle............ Jerry (in Tucson)

@Nubsnstubs You are right my choice of words was not the best. I should have just listed the dimensions.

Glad to hear that you were able to cut the blocks I asked for. Sap wood on the sides is fine. Please post the pictures and send me your Paypal address. If you cut up any Ironwood knife blocks or larger pieces, please keep me on your list. I have a bandsaw and can rip it if I have too.

I will be out of pocket until late tonight so if I don't respond right away, don't worry.

Scott

My bandsaw blade from Laguna was ordered on the 26th, November, so hopefully I'll get it before Christmas....I have several bandsaw blades, but don't want to even try cutting ironwood with them. The blade will be useless after a couple cuts. Still will cut, but is hard to push wood through. They are cut to your 1 1/4 x 1 1/2"x 5" numbers. Here are a couple with lacquer on them. They are also numbered 1-6 from left to right.

I would like 10 bucks each for these for a total of $60 plus postage. Won't know what size box until I see a reply on the Ironwood thread. ...... Jerry (in Tucson)

I'll take them if the other guys pull out. Or, if you have more etc... just want some in general.

Byron, when I get my bandsaw blade, I'll cut up a 20 pound piece for you, and then mail it out to you. In the meantime, I guess you'll just have to drool. ........... Jerry (in Tucson)

@Nubsnstubs I will take all 6 blocks. Really looking forward to getting these. Thanks.
Scott, your box of stuff went out yesterday. I use USPS Click and Ship. I seem to be getting up to the minute updates. Here is where your box is right now....Your item arrived at our USPS facility in EL PASO TX DISTRIBUTION CENTER on December 11, 2020 at 7:43 am. The item is currently in transit to the destination. One package and I've gotten over 5 emails letting me know what's happening with it. You should get it Monday morning about 9AM acciording to USPS. ............. Jerry (in Tucson)

Thanks Jerry. Can you confirm that it is headed for Pensacola and not Pearland?

Mike, how about I send you half of what I cut when you asked for it. It has been sitting in a box ready to mail, but I have not had the time to cut up the rest to get what you asked for. That will be 2 -- 1x1 x 5 and 4 -- 1/2 x 2 x 6+. I'll get you a picture in an hour. ...... Jerry (in Tucson)

Nothing I can't move by myself! About a foot length or more. Smaller diameter would be better. If you can wrap it in saran wrap, that would be good to reduce checking. Got something about a foot x 6-10''? Thanks a lot. Dream of mine to have some for who knows how long. I've actually always wanted to make a bow out of it, but never had any luck sourcing a 3ft clean limb.
What part of Colorado? ......... Jerry (in Tucson)

I can wait until you get time to do all. No need to enrich the mail/freight people unnecessarily

I'm from Longmont Colorado, but I tell people I'm from Boulder since no one knows what Longmont is. Longmont is a full 15 minutes north of Boulder and a world different. Went to school in Boulder though and worked there till I moved to Taiwan.

Byron, I know where Longmont is. I have a cousin who used to live there. My uncle also more than likely installed every traffic light there and in Boulder, plus the rest of the state. It made him a multi millionaire..
When do you think you might be coming back for a visit. I might go up and visit my uncle who now resides in Littleton, in May, possibly June if things work out. I could take that Ebony you want and leave it there.

Today, I'm going to cut your piece and also @Mike Hill's. Definately will post pictures today. .............. Jerry (in Tucson)

Sounds great! If you are in the area, I have my brother living right near DIA and my cousin lives north of Longmont. I can have one of them meet up with you to get it when you are in the area. Brother is probably better. He's used to getting weird wood requests from me. I probably won't be able to return to the States till COVID and it's successor have run their course. Might be a while! I was supposed to go back last summer, but no way. Next summer might be a possibility if things clear up. Thanks a lot and let me know what I owe you. Byron

@Byron Barker , sounds like a plan. You won't pay anything until I actually reach Denver. I will want 50 dollars for this piece of wood. If you need it cut, I believe it would be best if you did it because you know what you want.

Yesterday, I cut up about 120 pounds plus one brand new 16' Stanley tape measure trying to get good clean crack free ebony for @Mike Hill. I'm stating now that it's almost impossible to get crack free clear heartwood from Texas Ebony. I'm pretty close to calling it quits on cutting this crap with requests for crack free heartwood. But, I will go ahead and try to fill Mike's request.

If someone wants a piece of TE that will fit into any size box, I will gladly cut one or two pieces to fit. That will include any bark that might stay on, and all the sapwood. ............. Jerry (in Tucson)
