I don't know if I was involved with that one, but its really cool to see a piece of hupeana - don't see that one that often!
I'd say thats a very close match to D. monticola! In my own stash I have baronii and greveana, but none of the others, so I don't have anything to compare to, but if I had to bet, I would agree on monticola even from side grain.
Greveana is one of my favorites. Purpurascens can be really pretty also. I think I have 9-10 positively identified. I’ll have to start another thread once I get a bit of time. Got a 6 days of 10 hour shifts starting tonight, so might be a few days

I've always wanted to find some purpurascens! not easy over here! Of the madagascan species I have baronii and greveana, plus of course bois de rose. I am not entirely sure whether I have maritima and louvelii - probably a bit of both. I need to get the pieces out and check the end grain.
Yeesh, 10hr shifts and 6 days of them! Thats a hefty week!

Hi @Friedrich9 no problem, I'm just getting back on track too. My hand has had the wires out and bandages off and I nearly have a couple of flutes finally finished!

I'll dig out my list again and send it on. A sliver of waddywood would be lovely if it works out.

Also @Big Ry I haven't forgotten you either. My Octopus order with your last two pieces has been shipped but it always takes a while from Turkey. I'd also been trying to get a couple of woods they didn't have listed. I'll let you know when the pistachio and cornelian cherry arrive.

Those two Dalbergias look great! I do like seeing the different types. I have a piece of 'hupeana' that frankly could be anything, I really should check it more closely. I also have a nice chunk of D frutescens coming that I'm really pleased about. I also got some greveana recently though it's going to take a glue up to get a flute.

Its all good. I haven't gotten through prepping your pieces anyway. I have been trying to clean and reorganize my shop, so its been torn apart as I move in new drawers and cabinets and rearrange things to get more space. I still have a router table and scroll saw that have been sitting sealed in their box for a solid year. I need to finally get that stuff out so I can use it! In the process of organizing my wood, Ive also been working on a spreadsheet to track my collection just like you have. At this point its a necessity. Ive barely scratched the surface and am up to 40-50 species. I think I'll have 300-400 by the time I get through it all.

I have the Mgurure and Thuya blanks set aside and ready to go. I have a piece of Matt's Smoke Tree set aside to cut up for you. I also grabbed a prime piece of Eastern White Pine to go along with the not-so-prime piece from the tree in my side yard. The stuff is dirt cheap here, so I just bought a board from Lowes ha ha. It is definitely EWP and not SYP or S-P-F or some other "whitewood". I can easily get you a few knot-free blanks from that board. I'll have to go back to our list for the rest of the species we discussed, but suffice it to say Ive made no further progress on them since we lasts spoke about it ha ha

@davisu is a rosewood expert so if you want help on ID he’s the man.

Did I hear peuce?
Yes you did hear peuce. I’m hoping to get a bowl blank and several 2-2.5” diameter branches. It’ll determine what I end up doing with my larger log. I cleaned up the end grain the other day to make sure it had that purpleish hue Peuce has.

Wow. I do vaguely remember you expressing interest in some buckthorn. I think I still have to cut some common buckthorn but I have the glossy. If we do end up making a trade, I have been trying to get my hands on peuce for years.

I've flagged a few if you want some sort of shortlist, but I'd take whatever you can spare for a fair trade or trade/sale.

That all looks good to me.

I just measured everything to see exactly what I can get out of the pieces I have. Let me know if any of those ones under 12" are a problem. The Mgurure and 3 Thuja blanks are already cut and packed. The most promising piece of Thuja hasn't been cut yet. For the rest of the species, in some cases I'm limited by length and not by width. But if I can only do 12" long, does extra width benefit you at all or are you just going to turn it down to 1" anyway?

CommonBotanicalRequested SizeAvailable Size(s)
MgurureCombretum schumannii1.5 x 1.5 x 12"1.5 x 1.5 x 12" (prepped and ready)

I assume it's referring to the branches/leaves, which are a fairly deep green color. The wood itself is a mix of cream color and a golden brown towards the pith. It's surprisingly chatoyant. These are shellacked and wrapped in plastic, but you get the idea.
