Makore Bowl Blank

Thanks - was curious about it. There's been a few posts with wood for sale and a question mark following the naming of the wood. I see buyers going for it without any confirmation (no endgrain confirmation, no weight per bf, etc) of what they are buying. Latest said Walnut (?) and now being sold as East Indian Rosewood because "it looks like it" (maybe). I suppose if the buyers like the way it looks, it doesn't really matter the species. And, it's really none of my business anyway............LOL

Hi @JD1137 thanks for keeping an eye on things. I’m one of those buyers who almost always wants to know the type of wood and usually more specifically the species name. Whenever I show a piece I’ve turned to my friends or family the first question they ask is what kind of wood is it? In the case of the makore bowl blank I was willing to buy it because I found it so beautiful, but I’m definitely in the camp that wants to know what I’m buying. When I get the mokore, I’ll do some end grain analysis of my own but decided it was beautifully enough that I wanted it to regardless of it was Makore, sapelle or mahogany, or even something else entirely.

P.s. By the way, two really beautiful bowls I’ve turned came from cores you sold me. One was spalted hackberry and the other was a walnut crotch. Not sure if you remember them, but I bought them from you together at the same time. Many thanks again @JD1137 !

I found a few dead Malbec grapes as well and some more big Cabernet. Lots of the 2" gnarly stuff. The first 2 pictures are Malbecs and last 2 are Cabernet. Do you want some Malbec?

@Manzanitaman If @Big Ry passes on anything especially gnarly, and it's solid wood, I'd definitely be interested.
But, I'm not sure if anyone else has declared interest. Have no intention to cut in line.

Hi @Manzanitaman yes, I’d love two of the Malbec junctions and some 2 inch gnarly stuff along with everything. Can you shoot me a quick estimate, so I don’t blow my budget. I don’t want you to keep cutting this stuff for me if it’s out of my range, just want to be sure. Thanks again!
