I'm not sure how much figure these have, but some have really pretty grain patterns. I'll try to pick one that looks the best.

I’m assuming that some wood is better than no wood.
There are days I agree with that statement and others I ask why. I recently ordered a few samples and told the seller, no laminated samples unless they were from a shrub. Well, he did not listen. If the tree reaches sawlog sizes, it frustrates me to settle for a laminated sample.

So, I am passing on the narrower blanks and asking for one of the 6x6x2 blanks, preferably one that will result a sample closest to the IWCS sample size.

Fortunately these are all a bit oversized, so you shouldn't have any issue getting a full IWCS sample out of the bowl blank.

Put one asside with a post-it on it (with my name). I'm planning to go up to Paul's in 2 weeks and clean shop. You had offered to help me sort and maybe buy some of the longer stock to big to mail. I have secured indoor storage near me. So, hoping you can bring the piece up when you make the 2.5 hour drive. I'll keep you in the loop.

@Big Ry , do you have anything pen blank sized (1" x 1" x 6")?

Thanks,

G
No, but you could cut a 2x2x12 into 8 pen blanks or cut a 6" bowl blank into 10-12 pen blanks. Most of these blanks are oversized, so even subtracting kerf would likely still leave you with 1x1 net section per blank on the 2x2x12. The bowl might only net 10, as that's a lot of cut joints.
