I had some time finally to get in shop and make something. I decided to make a handle for my xacto knife. I used one of my segmented blanks I made a while ago. Came out good. But upon trying to take it off the mandrel I found out it was glued to the bushings.
I tried to get em apart as gently as I could but...it cracked off each end.
I was almost ready to toss it in the bin. But I remembered the Rick Astley song, never gonna give you up.
So, I went to cutting it off with my old xacto. And glued it back together.
And here's the result....

Nice X-acto, it is always a pleasure to use tools that are beautiful as well as functional.

A member of my turning club gave me a stash of plastic conical bushings, I'm not sure if they are HDPE or acetal or PTFE but they separate very easily even when CA-ed to blanks. Drop me a PM with your address and I'll mail you a couple.

I never use any type of bushings when finishing between centers.
I just smear some paste wax on the live and dead centers.

I wasn't finishing it when i applied the ca. It had a few small cracks and i wanted to fix it before they blew out.
I used thin ca instead of medium.
