I've used mine for four turning sessions lately and the battery is not quite at the halfway mark yet. I was putting it on the charger every time but have been forgetting.
 
I cobbled together a 3M Versa Flow last year for about $750, all on e-bay. The bulk was a "health-care" kit that was surplus (with the soft hood). Model was TR-300N+ECK. Then separately picked up a helmet with fire resistant bib, new but out of box, model M-407. Took a few months before i didn't get outbid, and some patience in looking. The hood apron is hot, so if i was doing it again i'd hold out for the M-307 helmet. (garage is not air conditioned, otherwise i'd probably be okay with the welding skirt as it does keep stuff from going down my neck!!)
Otherwise, i'm very happy with the performance & weight. I did grab one of my radio belts to use for the blower instead of the plastic one that comes with the TR-300 kit--but i had extra belts in my racing gear bag.
 
Well...this prompted me to look at ebay to see what i had spent on the VersaFlo. Found an open-box M-307 helmet for $200, bought it. So...my M-407 helmet will come on the market once i get the M-307 in. Will post on WB first when i do sell. Will be a good helmet for somebody piecing a VersaFlo system together or for an existing VersaFlo user who does metal work as well.

I did find that TR-300N-ECK kit available for $450 shipped on the 'bay today, so piecing a turning system together for $700 +/- is still realistic.
 
As mentioned above, just posted my M-407 helmet for sale. I'm committed to using my M-307 without the airpack instead of my Bionic shield--boatload more protection AND it'll make me more likely to use the air blower when i should.
