Yep. I get that. The maths look fun, the doing looks a little more drawn out. I know the type. "Easy peasy"Lots of man hours. And it was a pain in my @$$....lol
could be trillium...Cool! I just heard about them while Turkey hunting this past season. I had walked thru them for years and never knew they were there until someone pointed them out to me. The ones in our woods are small and hidden in clusters growing at random spots here and there.
How much of the design and fabrication do you do? Been wanting to ask that and just haven’t? Just not sure of the process you do. ……if you don’t mind explaining to an interested audience.Lots of man hours. And it was a pain in my @$$....lol
I'm sure you were compensated well!Lots of man hours. And it was a pain in my @$$....lol
Marc @ripjack13 - another cool sports commentators desk alongside the SNY Mets one! But, this one you just did for the NBA Finals looks more complex + the whole world will see this when they broadcast the games! You must be proud to see your work be out in the wild.Lots of man hours. And it was a pain in my @$$....lol
Not much on the design side. We have room full of incompetents to that. I just tweak it where it needs to be. I do all the fabrication on the steel and aluminum stuff. I've been doing stuff like this since 92-93. So it's easy peasy for me. I have an apprentice who just turned 21 and she does fantastic tig welding work. I do all the mig and a smidge of tig. I hate the noise when tigging aluminum so I leave most of it to her.How much of the design and fabrication do you do? Been wanting to ask that and just haven’t? There's a few compound angles there. Their 3d plans didnt translate to well to paper. LolYep. I get that. The maths look fun, the doing looks a little more drawn out. I know the type. "Easy peasy"
I am on a set of "blueprints" right now that every room is incorrect. The cabinet drawings are totally different from the print and I was told to use the cabinet drawings to determine the room dimensions... Then I was told that the boss wasn't too sure of his cabinet drawings in the one room that sets the size for 2 other areas. "Easy peasy"There's a few compound angles there. So I had to rework em a few times.
I love when that happens. LolI am on a set of "blueprints" right now that every room is incorrect. Thanks man. I get kinda giddy when I see stuff on tv I helped make...still.Marc @ripjack13 - another cool sports commentators desk alongside the SNY Mets one! Fortunately this is an hourly job and I am not the big boss. He will have to sign off on my drawings and that will be it from my side. The rest is between the homeowner and the owner of the business that I work for. I brought the drawings home over this weekend to do just that.@ripjack13 and @2feathers Creative Making - them damn designers @Mike Hill ! All that time they spend drawing these up, making a ton of money and they can’t communicate what they want to get build? So you guys want me to hand you a bunch of my CAD drawings to get some design done interior related? Lol. Frank- I emphathized with you man and a word of advise because what you have is a nightmare waiting to happen- ask them for drawing revisions before you can re-attack the work to be executed. That just puts you in the spot where all things can go wrong and it is their word against yours. So cover your a$$ because you don’t want to have to put out and redo it again because it will cost you time and $$$$.
That is so cool Marc. Thanks for sharing. Knew you had been in the business a while. Neat to see “under” the shell, especially thinking about all the electronics they have these days. Not much on the design side. We have room full of incompetents to that. Next week I'll find the plans and napkin drawings we used to make stuff. Funny story there. The designer saw it finished and said it was too small depth wise. So my handy tape measure proved him wrong. It was to his specs on the drawing.
So the second set we make next year will be bigger.
Yep they want new ones already. Lol
Each desk was 50k !!we made 2. One for each coast.
I'll set up a post soon and take a bunch of pix oc the next desk/job I do. We have one for the cowboys podcast coming up.
Ours are just breaking leaf bud now. We get flowers often around the first day of summer.
