But Lee has since doubled the flat rate shipping to 70GBP, which is too much to only order a few turning blanks. If I could do another large order right now, I'd grab some of that Mun and Pale Moon.

I can also get Mun on ebay from Turner's Circle, but I am trying to see if anyone has it a little cheaper here first. Most things on ebay are overpriced due to the exorbitant listing fees ebay charges now.

I am selling most of my wood. If I built 7-10s 52 weeks of year there is no way I could use it all. Persimmon I pictured is about 8' long. I have more.
Plenty of bowl stock.

Hi @Mike1950 , was your original piece 8 linear feet? I know I asked for 2 linear feet, but with Ryan buying 4 linear feet, I don’t want to leave you with 2 linear feet left that you won’t be able to sell any or do anything with. If that’s the case, I’ll by the last 2 feet from you as well.

Hear me out, looks like you posted a note-book page on the wood. Those pages are commonly 8"x11". Most Cotinus rarely make 8" DBH and your piece looks like it came from a 14" to 16" DBH. Secondly, sapwood of Cotinus is often thin, rarely over and 1" thick. Looking at Paul's site, very few samples even have sapwood, as it is so thin it is lost in milling. Sapwood is often 1/4" to 1/2" thick.

Your post #8 in the other thread does not match well with the other woods in that thread. Cotinus is more semi-ring porous while your wood looks more ring porous. Your wood had a close color, however it was on the outside of the board which on your wood is sapwood. The heartwood is the yellow, the sapwood is white, or shades of gray. The end grain in post #8 with the "V" notch looks more like Phellodendron, AKA Corktree.

Thus my request for a sanded endgrain and sanded transverse plain. Thanks.

To play the devil's advocate here a bit, the Cotinus I'm working to buy from the guy in Oregon is 24" wide at the widest point of the biggest slab. Though that appears to be at the crotch. Main trunk looks like it's at least 14". He provided this photo of the tree it came from (it was a downed branch/trunk, so tree is still living). He also sent a couple videos but they're more annoying to post here.

Hey @Mr. Peet I appreciate your expertise and really want to get the identification of this wood correct. What do you think of the end grain close-ups I posted in comment #32. And my logic. Are they helpful?
