Here are a few nice kiln dried Ambrosia Maple platter blanks. Each blank measures approximately 11 1/2" x 11 1/2" x 2". Kiln dried and ready to finish turn. Choose by letter in the upper left corner of each blank. $44 each delivered. IMG_2298.JPG IMG_2297.JPG IMG_2296.JPG

Would I be ostracized if I bought something like this and cut it up into reel seat blanks? Just asking for future reference...

How big are the reel seat blanks?
Typically I start with 1" X 1" X 4" or 4.25". That gives me a little room in case the hole I drill wanders off center. But I have a whole drawer full of blanks so I'm certainly not fishing for more. I was just looking how that end grain has all those blotches and different colors and thought it might make a cool insert. Please don't go to any trouble, like I said, I have plenty to keep me busy.

I won't jump on his thread and sell stuff. Can't remember what thickness my ambrosia boards are anyway. I'd have to look and see. He probably has what you need without cutting these up. If not, shout at me

Considering I spent most of the day yesterday cutting up free ambrosia maple, why am I so tempted by this? :ponder:

That's a serious question as I've looked at this thread 5 times now trying to justify buying one, or resisting the urge to do so! I've got someone on each shoulder whispering in each ear!

Beautiful blanks David, but I must resist!!!

You are tempted because they are dry. :good2: No waiting for free ambrosia to dry. :ponder: LOL. No pressure. Blank D remains to anyone interested.
