@Final Strut I cut up some slabs yesterday and will post this week. Sorry for the delay...got real sick for about three weeks that landed me in the hospital. Feeling much better now.

That's a bummer. Glad your feeling better now. No big rush I just saw your other post with the SMFR box of stuff and it reminded me of this thread. Take it easy and post pics when you can. Thanks, Scott

Lou,

If you are 100% sure it is a variation of the "Queen palm", Syagrus romanzoffiana, it is sometimes called the "Cocus palm" which can cause confusion.

I don't have any, are you anywhere near Lakeland, FL or Port Charlotte, FL? I would like to buy a piece. I hear it has moved up to category 2 on the invasive plant list in Florida. My samples end up at 3" x 6" x 1/2 inch, so pretty small compared to bowl blanks.

I am in Winter Haven, which is SE of Lakeland.

Lou,

Let me check if friends in Lakeland want any first, if so I would piggy back off them. I'll need a day or two, so sell what you can. Thanks for the quick response...

No problem... I have one more log that has not been sawn yet.

Lou, please help me with the measurements and grain orientation on 2 and 3.

2 - 10.5 x 6 x ?
3 - 8 x 6 x ?

Which length does grain run on?

The grain runs up and down on the side. The end grain is the side where the small ruler is. It is as tall as a medium flat rate box.

Ok. Tbank you for the added info. As long as it is as tall as a mfrb so I can get 5 inch pen blanks out of it I'll take #2 please.

Does slab 3 fit in a medium flat rate? Even if not in a flat rate and packed up I will take it if your willing to ship to Canada
