What did you do in your shop today?

First time in the shop in a long time. Sanded up this walnut form that I turned months ago. A little finish sanding tonight and it's ready for some oil.

3 panels sanded and ready to cut and shuffle.

Ready to glue up. Lost approximately 1” on each panel to kerf/sawdust. I’ll fill in with a few spare bits.

I know this sounds like deja vu but , I got the shop all cleaned up again for some more downtime. Now I'm having my
left knee replaced tomorrow morning. Just when I was starting to get around with the right one too. Oh well,
I know that a year from now, I will be walking around pain free.

Cutting a few walnut and cherry blanks up for SWAT. They say everything is bigger in Texas. Let's see if the lathes are. 20×3 cherry, a 16x3 walnut crotch and others. Also some 12x3 walnut bowl blanks. Still have several slabs on the trailer to cut up.

Worth the price of admission right here.

I'd love to see/have one finished. These things are massive. The log wasn't a baby either. A square edge bowl blank that is 20" wide!!! The slabs were 24". They would make an awesome table. Have 2 or 3 still on the trailer.

Wow, You going thru my part of the country going to the SWAT thing? Might need to do some rehoming for them wood pieces!

Worked a little on the German smokers today. Trying to make a better pedestal for the incense out of pop can aluminum. Might go with a bottle cap after all. Still playing with it.

How do you get the German smokers to hold still so you can clamp them in the chuck? Aren't they notoriously jittery?

Nyuck, nyuck, nyuck... I make myself laugh.

Back to the “chaotic” end grain cutting boards.

This was after the first iteration of sanding, cutting and shuffling.

After the fourth round they look like this and are considerably thinner.

Cross cut and the left overs

Hope to finish these tomorrow.
