What did you do in your shop today?

Not bagels.

Sanded, parted off, finished the bottoms and starting all over again… that’s why its called production work.

I was showing my brother in law the 3 cherry burls I got last month. When I flipped one over it was covered in ants!!!
Spent the rest of the afternoon moving and spraying the whole area. Then any piece that even had a hint of a scar or hole was brought outside. I have to much expensive stuff on the shelves! Should have known better. I usually only bring in what I'm going to use right away or stuff that's been known clean. Unless it's store bought or blanks.

Bummer! Best to take all precautions! Ugh! Chuck

Started laying out patterns for another batch of necklaces. We have a lot of new people at church and folks are asking for my crosses again. All of this material is scraps from the larger crosses and ran through the drum sander to thin them down. 20250628_181038.webp 20250628_181055.webp

Does in front of the shop count? My Cherokee needed rear shocks I thought…..can’t believe how bad they were!! Geez, no action left in either not counting the oily mess. Yep, previous owner got his money out of these, not counting the miles I put on them.

….and yes, got some lathe time too. Having trouble on the right side cuts, fighting catches and such. Really having to concentrate. Left side of “bead” isn’t bad, I am feeling good. Oh well, more lathe time. This s the start of my second small hollow form for an ornament.

Really interesting piece. Be a cool decorative table lamp with a light inside. Get a frosted, tulip shape bulb so the light isn't harsh and bright.

My thought was a caveman diorama! Caveman family being attacked by a sabertooth tiger, father fighting it with a spear, little fire in a corner and of course, miniature caveman drawings on the wall!

I got the new compressor for the shop down in the basement.

I'd put on more clamps if I could find someplace to put them...because, you know, you never have enough clamps. Second attempt at finger joints on a box. Once again, lessons are being painfully learned.
