What did you do in your shop today?

This is more about what I have done in the shop the last couple of months vs today. Long story short, I retired about a year and a half ago which included moving out of Komifornia to Nevada. With the move and two unexpected surgeries I was not able to do anything in the shop (also called a garage). Finally have been able to get things set up like I wanted to. I built a wall wood storage system, a bench for my drill press, bench for miter saw with folding wings, a table for my new toy, a CNC machine, and lastly a holder for my lathe tools. It has been fun to get back at it. Now to make something purdy.

I will post pics when I figure out how to reduce the size of the pics. Apparently they are too big for the forum.

Congrats! Your shop is coming together nicely! Sorry to hear of your setbacks, but looking forward to seeing future creations. Don’t see much wood! Chuck

Really impressed with your benches John. All my stuff is on wheels too but your's are way nicer. What brackets did you use for the wings on your miter saw bench? I like the swing out rack for plywood on your wood rack too. I'm guessing you'll use the sections below the bottom shelf for shorter boards? I'd probably put a cross piece acrossed the two sections on the far right, about 18" above grade so shorter boards would stay put.

He doesn’t want to show us what he has so that we don’t get hungry. He knows that his wood is so tasty that if he shows it to us we’ll fly over from Europe just to taste it.

Brackets from amazon... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BVQQCW68?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_1&th=1

The plans I used for the wood storage did have a 1x4 cross piece on the lower level just as you suggested. I decided instead to get some 1/4" bungee cord and drilled holes through each vertical member and ran two rows of the cord across (just had not done that yet when I took the pic).

Been a long time since working a full day in the shop. Getting ready for Peeper season that’s just around the corner. They bring in tourists by the bus loads to see the Lakes Region fall spectacle. Couple more days like today and will be ready for them.

Love watching your process! What is the target date for you to have things ready for the Fall colors tourists? Chuck

We normally peak here after the 1st week in Oct. We‘re in a severe drout conditions very little rain all summer so should be earlier.

sure like this one, wonder where a guy could get some of that?
LOL…I wonder? Probably 90% of everything on there came from folks on this site.

you've been busy, and didn't even hardly wait for it to cool down out here
Yep, I am a morning person by nature anyway, so I would start early and as long as the temp was below 105 it wasn’t too bad. But I would call it a day if it got over that.

I was thinking bunge cords would work well for that too and not get in the way of the swing out ply holder. Nice job.

Great looking garage. Bunches of ideas to be thieved right there... Starting to collect ideas to finish out my garage. Have about 1 day putting the floor in and 1 day putting the front wall on before I can really call it a shop.

Well, finally feel up to a little real shop time instead of garage-shop time!! Just some cleaning and organizing but I got into this cabinet for the first time in 3+ years. Have I needed things out of it? Yes. Have I probably bought things I couldn’t get to, yes……. But, life of building and organizing a shop. The rolling rack that is in the left of the picture was always going to live there. But it has had OSB, Sheetrock, plywood, and whatever else leaning against it for this entire time….until today.

My space does not look as good as @Maverick ’s, but a big step For me.
