I started by cleaning all the crap off the top of my table saw from other projects.
I salvaged this little tray organizer from a cabinet the church was throwing out. Im going to re purpose it for a set up caddy for me when i do church set up.
First I needed to cut off the parts not needed.
This is what I was after.
I went through my scrap bin and pulled out some stuff for a handle. Box elder for the uprights and curly maple for the carry handle.
No fastners where used, just glue and dowels.
I didn't spend a lot of time on this, sanding took the most time, lol. A quick coat of wipe on poly and it should be good to go for the morning set up.

In the backs of all of our chairs we have tithing envelopes, a connection card and prayer request card, and pens to fill them out. If I remember I'll get a Pic of it loaded up.

The forum shows when a post is made at each persons local time. Greg is eastern, I'm in Central and Doug is Pacific.
I'm assuming Greg posted about 6:00 a.m. his time, but it shows as 5:00 a.m. on my screen and 3:00 a.m. for Doug.
You mean you never get up at 3am, gotta pee, not quite ready to go back to sleep so you pick up an iPad and kill a few minutes until you get sleepy again. No, not me, never. Well maybe sometimes.

Well here's a pic of it all loaded up for duty. Ill use it for the church set up for 2 services. Sure beats the cardboard box I was using.
Couldn’t get much more perfect!
Remember the ammonia fuming trick!
Took some thick Maple slabs and cut into bowl blanks (18 - I think). Sizes range from about 10” diameter to 15” and 3-4” thick. Most in the 12”(+) diameter range. A couple wheelbarrows of cutoffs for the fire pit.
Well - yes, another figured Maple log from the firewood business. I had a few of these logs and left 3 sitting, in the weeds, for about 6 months. They were all curly when I purchased the logs, but I suspect the parts of the log in contact with the ground for 6-months caused the spalting and “extra” figure.
I cut up a few bowl blanks (mostly to sell at TOC last weekend) and I kept this one since I saw it had some spectacular possibility.
I cored it and got a 5”, 8” and this one is 11.5” x 4” deep. Great dimensions for a salad bowl IMO.
I’m once turning these to about 1/4” thick and will put them in a cardboard box in my basement so they dry relatively slowly. This Maple will warp like crazy, but I’ve had good success with no cracks as it dried.

Not quite Shop... but just out the back door. What would have taken only one day a few years ago has taken two weeks to get this old, half-dead peach tree down and cleared. Small-diameter tree... but I'm hoping to make a few things from it. Mostly mushrooms. I did put a few blanks aside for pens and possible Shaving Brushes.
