Man, there are braver people up there than I am - standing behind a guy with a fly rod, and aligned with his back cast!
I have a 6 ft log that I'm hoping to slab out this summer. A guy sent me a bunch of chunks of mulberry burl a couple years ago and I lathered on some latex paint. This was after I cleaned them up again...love that yellow too. Does it turn brown? Here's a pick of some mulberry blanks cut fresh this afternoon. Posting this for @Eric Rorabaugh who mentioned in an ID post he hadn't seen any fresh cut mulberry before. Neither had I, we have mulberry trees all over, but this is the first time I've cut any. Just wish that bright yellow lasted....

Heh heh, I noticed that too. Not a lot of room for a backcast either - but the "pond" might not be that long.Man, there are braver people up there than I am - standing behind a guy with a fly rod, and aligned with his back cast!
Checked them out...interesting. Too bad it doesn't hold that yellow though! Thanks for the info and link .Yeah, it will turn brown, but I think it's a really nice looking mellow color that is somewhat distinctive. Others have posted pictures showing the color change and I know Paul has some pictures on his HobbitHouse site http://hobbithouseinc.com/personal/woodpics/. If nobody else shows some pics, I'll take a couple tonight and post them.

I suck at roll casting."Roll Casts ONLY!!"
A few jigs. The old guy in the pic made a few on the spot for him. And the other 2 guys in the pic with him, gave em a free hat.Did you guys score some schwag at the show?
Carl, do you have any photos from Covington? My parents graduated high school from there. They are dead now but continued to take the Covington Leader for decades after moving to Washington.Wynne Arkansas got it worse, but the storm system spawned more tornados that hit Covington, TN. Those pics I in posted yesterday were not the worst of it by far. I went to another neighborhood today where it look like a massive bomb went off. Entire homes are gone, but then somehow only one person died. There were huddles with their family but then got sucked up in the tornado and dropped 100 yards away.

Thousands of trees came down and over 300 telephone poles destroyed.
Tons of wood will need to be hauled off. I mostly cut pecan and oak today, but only had time to salvage this black cherry to save it from the dump. View attachment 240283View attachment 240284
Tornado hit the South side of Covington up to Brighton, but I've been too busy cutting trees up to get many more pics. I'm sure some people on Facebook are posting pics of the damage areas if that's what you're wanting. I'm back at work today, but may go back this Friday to help out.Carl, do you have any photos from Covington? My parents graduated high school from there. Thanks Karl. My brother was born in Brighton. My heart goes out to all the folks who have suffered through recent weather across the country.Tornado hit the South side of Covington up to Brighton, but I've been too busy cutting trees up to get many more pics. It's been unreal to think just how quickly people lost there home and everything in it. Some of the survivor stories are amazing. I heard one family's home was destroyed down to the foundation except for the one room they were huddled in and praying. One person said it sounded like a freight train but ten times louder right outside their house.
