What free wood did you find today?

wow! awesome score, I see some big bowls in your future
I kept only 4 or 5 smaller pieces, one crotch piece. The rest will go to club members and club turning events. The guy with me (he is on the right in the last picture) has 8 lathes in his house and does a Thursday Night Turning event 3 times a month open to new turners and club members. Great learning experience monitored and assisted by other club members.

Nice, I bet when you cut it and stick that moisture meter in a fresh cut it's going to be higher.

Found some Red Elm had been cut and dumped off at the log yard. Talked to the arborist and ye said he would pull the largest log off the burn pile for me.

Smaller pile of smaller logs that I might try to get as much as I can. Bad news, we're having thunderstorms this afternoon/evening and the log yard will be way too wet for me to get into it. Plus, he'll be burning this week. So, I'll probably won't be more than the one he's pulling off.

My buddy found us a seemingly endless suppy of maple and some beautiful walnut. Been in bed and on the couch for over a month with a cranky back. Got the MRI yesterday and won’t get the results until the 25th. I’m pretty sure my wood gathering days are over. Take a look.

Bill, I hope you get better news than you might be expecting.

Wood gathering doesn't necessarily mean trying to haul whole logs, or even cutting them up. It can also mean going along with friends and helping with smaller pieces, and directing those who are doing the heavier lifting.
