What free wood did you find today?

Spent a little time cutting up some locust today. Left several thick to make some hollow forms for basket illusions. Too cold to deal with wax/sealer, so just stacked them in a barrel with plastic bag over the top.

I didn't find no free wood, I gave some away. Just down the road from us is a place called Healing Reigns. They use horses and farm animals to help kids and people who respond to animal therapy. The nice lady who works there said their goats love Christmas trees to I dropped mine off today and said hello to a few of the friendly goats. Hard to believe the goats like fir and pine trees - you'd think they'd taste like turpentine.

Have you ever eaten goat???? :lol2:

Only somewhat kidding as with all meats, flavor tends to follow diet...

I've wanted to pick up a goat leg to make some mid-eastern flavored salami, but haven't sought any out yet.

Spit roasted goat is supposedly quite a treat.

Is it considered "free" if it costs me .46¢ in gas cutting it off the tree?
My size 10 foot next to black olive burl.
Looks like someone already cut one off too a while ago. Interesting pattern!

Took another look at tree & it's Tropical Almond, not Black Olive !!
Much nicer wood !! 'Cept I'm very sensitive to it.
Gonna turn it anyway with full body cover & respirator.

I have eaten goat at once before but I can't remember where - might have been Africa or maybe the middle East. I seem to recall it wasn't terrible but not anything noteworthy either. I think it came in a sauce that probably controlled the flavor profile.

Sounds like a goat curry.

Our 2 gots love when I trim our ponderosas and throw a few branches into their pen. Good on ya.

Here goat stew is seen fairly frequently. I used to eat at a now closed cafe, Corum's BBQ and Stew in Lexington, AL. The owners died years ago. They always had beef, chicken rabbit and goat stew on the menu. Here is a partial menu from Marty's Stew shack, located not far from where Corum's was. They don’t do rabbit nor Brunswick.
