About a week ago I received a couple of pieces of spalted Maple Burl Peppermill blanks from @Mike1950. Made a PM -10”. Turned then dyed black. Sanded back the black. Then dyed red over the black and sanded it back again. Several coats of satin poly for finish. Including a pic of the second blank I have. Thanks

Wood is captivatingly gorgeous! Guess you could turn a salt mill with that 2nd block. Chuck

Thanks and good idea on the salt mill Chuck. However- I’ll probably make another Peppermill from the second piece of wood. I do make salt cellars for the salt. I’ll try to remember to post some pics of those sometime. Appreciate it!

Just completed my Crushgrind peppermill entry. Wood is Black Walnut from a friend that passed away a couple years ago. Finish is 5 coats of satin wipe-on poly. I loaded it with peppercorns, and it works as advertised! Chuck

After lunch, I'm going to attempt another mill like the one I just screwed up. I think I have the drilling for dowels figured out. Now, just have to remember the steps I established back when I made that mandrel. .............. Jerry (in Tucson)

Derek, I just made one in about 3 1/2 hours. Piece of cake, but not worthy of entering as I didn't have the mechanism, and stopped when I discovered a discrepancy. It is very functional, but it's not purrfeck. I just posted a thread. ............ Jerry (in Tucson)
I'd give that attempt a A for effort Jerry.

Either way it goes you are ahead of me. 2 months to make an offering and I still don't have a completed piece. Life has been too busy lately.
Johnathon, I just made another in about 3 1/2 hours. You just need to apply yourself unless this is your first and don't have any instructions. ............. Jerry (in Tucson)

You guys have been making some really impressive mills for this challenge. I'd be proud to have any of them sitting on my dinner table. Voting is going to be very hard on this one.

How'd you do? Ulvalde area?
Best weekend in several years. We usually have a very strong hunt or two, but this year every time we got in a field we had loads of birds. Jason (guide) said its just been one of those years, the best he's seen in the last 10. If you have time, you should get out there before it changes.
