It's been the worst flooding here since 1911, we got more rain last week than all of the precipitation of the last year combined.
I do it weekly and just suck them up with the lawnmower. Also they grind up better when they are dry. It's always a gamble - do I wait for all the leaves to fall before picking them up? If I do, I risk getting rain or snow and the leaves turn into a sticky layer that is impossible to pick up.
If you have the equipment to do so, it's easier (and better for the soil) to mulch them. Of course that depends on whether or not you get the weather for them to dry. It's always a gamble - do I wait for all the leaves to fall before picking them up? Big congrats!A couple months ago I asked a few of you about setting minimum bids on some boxes I donated to a place called Healing Reins for their big annual fund raising auction. I got some great advice and wanted to thank you all - you know who you are. I stopped at their office today to pick up any boxes that didn't sell so they weren't cluttering up their space. The lady told me that every box sold, and every box went for more than minimum bid. If they got only minimum bids I set, they would have netted $650 I think. She didn't have the totals handy but she said they did very well. So thank you to those who helped me set prices. Now I kind of wish I had set them even a little higher. I guess for tax purposes, I can only value the donation at what I priced them for, not for what they sold for.
I've heard it often. Assume it came more into use the last 30 years as more folks are familiar with cows. The term boar and sow are just not commen use as all the mom 'n' pop farms are wiped out by the big boys. When I was little, there were hundreds of farms in our county. There are now dozens.Going to be a great day in a couple of hours. Why, you may ask?
Political adds will end!
Although we are in Illinois, most of our media is from the Quad Cities (on the Mississippi river) and we inundated with adds for Iowa races.
Statewide races in Illinois primarily go only one direction, but many contested races in Iowa.
Without getting into the politics, what is the most outlandish tag line you've heard in a political ad?
I'll go first....
"He's about as useful as tits on a bull."
Never heard that phrase used with a "bull", around here it's always "...on a boar".
Don't want to talk any politics, just comment on the stupidity of statements made trying to convince people to vote one way or the other.
